Want to make PowerPoint presentations that can make a lasting impression on the audience? Animation can be the answer!
PowerPoint has several types of animations: Entrance, Exit, Emphasis, and Motion Paths. These animations engage the viewers and put emphasis on certain texts, images, or other elements. As a result, if your presentation is looking a little bit boring, some animations can help bring it to life.
Here is a short guide on how you can use Microsoft PowerPoint entrance and exit effects for great animations.
Entrance animations control how something appears on your slide. For example, if you add an entrance animation to a certain text, it will follow the animation when arriving at the screen.
Here are the different types of entrance animations available in PowerPoint as of now with their descriptions:
Effect | Description |
Appear | Flashes in quickly without additional effects |
Fade | Gradually fades in |
Fly-in | Flies in from one of eight directions |
Float in | Floats in from above or below |
Split | Splits from the edges towards the centre |
Wipe | Wipes in from a specified direction |
Shape | Fills in from the edges of a specified shape and appears |
Wheel | Rotates around a central hub and gradually appears |
Random Bars | Appears from behind bars that turn and disappear |
Grow & Turn | Spins forward into view from a distance |
Zoom | Zooms in from outside the slide area |
Swivel | Appears as it swivels around a central point |
Bounce | Bounces onto the slide before settling |
Exit animations, on the other hand, control how a text or an object in a presentation exits from a slide. They can give the audience an understanding of the fact that you have finished talking about a certain topic.
Here are the different types of exit animations available in PowerPoint as of now with their descriptions:
Effect | Description |
Disappear | Instantly removes the object from the view |
Fade | Gradually fades away |
Fly Out | Flies away in a specific direction |
Float Out | Floats out in a specific direction |
Split | Splits from the centre to the edges |
Wipe | Wiped away from a specific direction |
Shape | Disappears as a specified shape overlays it |
Wheel | Rotates around a central hub and gradually disappears |
Random Bars | Disappear behind bars that turn and disappear |
Shrink & Turn | Shrinks and spins into the background where it disappears |
Zoom | Zooms into the distance and disappears |
Swivel | Swivels around a central point and disappears |
Bounce | Bounces out of the view into the lower-right corner |
Adding an entrance or an exit animation to a text or an object is pretty easy. The animation tab is available on the ribbon on top and you can pick any one of them of your choosing.
